Audiences Overview

Audiences represent the specific groups of participants you want to engage with through your AI Interviewers. By defining an Audience, you can precisely target individuals based on various criteria and manage the recruitment process directly within ThinkChain.

Key Concepts

  • Interviewer Link: Each Audience is directly linked to a specific Interviewer. The Interviewer's configuration (like estimated time) influences the Audience setup.
  • Project Association: Audiences are also associated with the Project that the linked Interviewer belongs to.
  • Status: Audiences progress through different states:
    • Draft (Unpublished): The initial state where you define the audience parameters before launching recruitment. You can modify most settings in this state.
    • Active: The recruitment campaign is live, and participants can join the study. Modifications are limited.
    • (Other potential statuses like Paused, Completed, etc., might exist depending on the system's evolution)

Creating an Audience Draft

You start by creating an Audience Draft. This involves:

  1. Linking to an Interviewer: Specify which Interviewer this audience is for.
  2. Setting Recruitment Goals:
    • invitation_text: Craft the message potential participants will see.
    • total_available_places: Define the exact number of participants you need.
  3. Defining Screening Criteria: Although not explicitly detailed in every creation step, the system uses predefined or customizable criteria (like demographics, location, language, engagement history) to target the right participants from the available pool. These criteria are typically configured during setup or based on the linked Interviewer/Project.

When you create a draft, the system prepares the recruitment campaign but doesn't start it yet. You'll receive an Audience record in the "Draft" state and potentially an estimated cost for the recruitment.

Viewing and Managing Audiences

  • View Details: You can retrieve the complete details of a specific Audience using its unique ID.
  • List Audiences: You can list all Audiences associated with a particular Interviewer, with options for pagination (viewing in chunks) and sorting (e.g., by creation date, status).

Updating an Audience Draft

Before launching recruitment (while the Audience is still a Draft), you can modify certain details:

  • invitation_text: Refine the invitation message.
  • total_available_places: Adjust the number of participants needed.

Important: Once an Audience is Active (recruitment has started), you generally cannot decrease the number of participants, only increase it. Other fields might also become read-only.

Launching Recruitment (Publishing an Audience)

When your Audience Draft is configured correctly, you can "publish" it. This action:

  1. Activates the recruitment campaign through ThinkChain's integrated system.
  2. Changes the Audience status from "Draft" to "Active".
  3. Makes the associated Interviewer available to the targeted participants.
  4. Records the date and time the recruitment was launched (date_published).

Deleting Audiences

You can delete Audience records, primarily when they are in the "Draft" state.

  • Local Deletion: Removes the Audience record from your ThinkChain project.
  • Draft Campaign Removal: When deleting a draft, you often have the option to also attempt removal of the corresponding draft campaign from the underlying recruitment system, preventing accidental future activation. This is only possible for audiences that haven't been published yet.

Bulk deletion allows you to remove multiple Audience records simultaneously.
