Creating & Sharing Interviewers: Overview
What is an Interviewer?
While a Research Agent Template is the blueprint, the Research Agent is the actual, specific AI agent instance that you create and share.
Think of it this way:
Research Template vs. Research Agent Instance
- Research Agent Template: The reusable configuration or "master plan" that defines how an AI research agent should behave. This includes its research focus, personality, research instructions, and any specific research tools it should use.
- Research Agent Instance: A specific AI research agent created from a Research Agent Template. This is what you actually share with research participants to conduct qualitative research studies.
What Makes Up a Research Agent?
Each Research Agent:
- Has a unique name and description for identification in your research project.
- Is based on a specific Research Agent Template (inheriting its research focus, behavior, instructions).
- Can have its own shareable link for distributing to research participants.
- Tracks all research interactions – every qualitative research interview conducted with this research agent is recorded and stored.
- Might have instance-specific settings that override or supplement the Research Agent Template (though this is less common).
Why This Separation Matters for Research
This design allows you to:
- Reuse Research Configurations: Create one well-designed research configuration for "Customer Experience Research" and then apply similar settings to multiple Research Agent instances for different product lines or research segments.
- Organize Research by Context: Have separate Research Agent instances for different research audiences (e.g., "New User Research Agent" vs. "Power User Research Agent") with customized configurations for each.
- Track Research Separately: Each Research Agent instance has its own research interaction history, making it easy to analyze qualitative research results by context or audience.
- Scale Research Easily: Launch multiple research studies quickly by creating Research Agent instances with proven research configurations.
Quick Summary
You build the research intelligence and behavior in the Research Agent Template, but you activate and share it by creating a Research Agent instance from that template.
